Dreams are made of toasties like these. What’s better than enjoying a childhood favourite snack? Combining two favourites for the ultimate lunchtime treat! Why not add in a layer of barbeque sauce to really get the tastebuds going.

Ingredients

  • 30g Dromona butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 100ml milk
  • 50g Dromona mature cheddar
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp spice mix
  • 100g of macaroni, cooked
  • 8 slices of bread

Made for sharing:

Note, Connor’s recipe makes an extra thick sauce. For a wetter sauce simply double the milk to 200ml

How It’s Done:

  1. Add butter to a saucepan on medium heat, when melted add flour and whisk – when combined gradually add milk and whisk to form a roux
  2. Reduce heat to low and add mustard, spice and cheese and mix
  3. Add cooked macaroni, stirring into the sauce and then remove from the heat
  4. Add a spoonful of butter to a pan on med/high heat
  5. Let’s get building the toastie.  Buttered bread, 3 spoonful’s of Mac n cheese and another slice of buttered bread
  6. Add toastie to pan with melted butter and toast for 3 minutes on each side
  7. Serve up a scrumptious meal perfect for any time of day
